Jonathan Davis: Founder, CEO and Lead Designer

Jonathan has had an interest in ponds & aquatic wildlife from a very young age. The first pond he built was in his parents back garden using a bin liner at the age of 10, and this was the start of his journey. He has refined and developed his skills after a passing his 3 years Btec Course in Horticulture at Askham Bryan College. He then started his own business JD Landscapes with his parent’s lawnmower/hedge-cutter and got to know his clients very well and told them about his passion for pond building and the rest is history, over 15  years later he is the proud owner of JD Landscapes and Ponds.

In 2017 he took his first trip to the pond capital of the world in Chicago, USA. The home of Aquascape, the biggest pond construction company in the world. For two weeks, each year Jonathan travels to Chicago where he acquires new skills, & develops existing skills, he gains inspiration and knowledge to bring back to his clients in the UK. JD Landscapes was the first company in the North of England to supply and fit the revolutionary Aquascape systems, and now is a mentor to multiple contractors throughout the UK.  Jonathan continues to expand the business by the constant training & development of his staff who will in turn be travelling to Chicago with him. Jonathan is always on the lookout for new ideas and talent, which will benefit the clients/company.

In 2019 his efforts paid off, becoming a Certified Aquascape Contractor, and a multi award winning company. In 2021 he was recognised with the prestigious rank of Master, and in 2022 personally invited by Greg Wittstock “the pond guy” to build his personal pond at his home in Utah USA, and published in the prestigious hands of the artist book, containing the best pond builders in the world.

Paul Simpson

Paul joined us in 2021 and has quickly become an integral part of the design and construction team. Paul has brought his extensive dry stone walling skills, knowledge and experience to the team, Working on the Yorkshire Dales for most of his working life, he has been used to been immersed in nature, and has taken to building ponds naturally, understanding and enjoying the process of replicating natural habitats

Working alongside Jonathan, he’s been encouraged to explore and expand his creativity and skillset, later telling Jonathan of his desire to build a wet wall, which you can see in the display centre, in march 2023, he is competing, teamed with Jonathan in an official Aquascape waterfall building contest.

With his charismatic wit, Paul has become a firm favourite with clients and within the team itself

Marie Davis: Office Manager

After 20 years working across both community and hospital pharmacy, I’m excited to be starting a brand new chapter!

Over the years, working within healthcare and public-facing services has given me excellent people skills, a strong understanding of customer care, and a real passion for helping and supporting others. I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, often in busy and demanding environments, which has helped me develop great communication skills, patience, organisation, and the ability to build trusted relationships.

As the wife of Jonathan Davis, owner of Davis Pondscapes and the Aquahub, I’ve now officially joined the family business venture. I’m looking forward to learning all things ponds and water features, while bringing my experience in customer service, organisation, and client care into the business as we continue to grow.

Alongside this exciting new role, I also run my own travel business, Yorkshire Travel Lady, combining my passion for travel with helping others create unforgettable experiences and adventures. I love connecting with people, understanding what’s important to them, and helping create memorable experiences — whether that’s through travel or beautiful outdoor spaces.
Life is certainly busy balancing family life with two children, our dog, and now two very different businesses, but I’m excited for this new adventure and all the opportunities ahead!

Phil Davis: Maintenance Manager

Recently promoted to maintenance manager, Phil joined the company in November 2020. After graduating university with a degree in History, Phil trained as an estate agent working for a couple of Agents in the Northallerton area and developed his office and time management skills along with customer relations.

The change of pace from estate agency to water gardening has inspired Phil to be a lot more hands on, managing his time between field operations and his office duties, becoming very proficient in his handling of heavy machines such as excavators and loaders making his field duties even more valuable. Phil took his first trip out to Chicago in 2022 for his first Pondemonium and it has inspired him to make large strides in making the company more efficient and professional.

In the near future Phil will be front of house in our new design and inspiration centre, so come along to see him.
