Jonathan and the team have just finished renovating my pond . Having had a disastrous experience with a company last year who put in a new the liner without removing the old one (so the new liner ballooned every time it rained) and who left the pond looking absolutely awful, I contacted Jonathan to see if he could make it look lovely again. And he certainly has ! I’m over the moon with the result and the hard work, attention to detail and professionalism of all the team can’t be praised too highly . Would not hesitate to recommend JD Landscapes and Ponds.
Jonathan and his team restructured and redesigned an existing pond for me last week and the results are stunning. I was able to see the work as it progressed and was fascinated to watch the creativity and ingenuity that went into developing the pond.
Jonathan and his team are all very hard- working, responsive to queries and requests and are good-humoured and polite. They are committed to creating the best habitat for existing wildlife (which in my pond included at least a dozen frogs and numerous froglets).
I was also able to see the amount of hard work on a daily basis that was required to complete even a small pond.
I chose colour-changing lights which add fun and excitement to the pond by night!

JDL completed a pond-less waterfall in our garden yesterday. After one day, we are delighted with the result! As a team, they were a joy to have around, never refused a cuppa, and cleaned up after themselves. Best of all was to see the pleasure they so clearly took in their work, paying attention to fine detail, working with the rock - flexibly creative artistry. Brilliant! The result is a meandering succession of falls, each with its own sound, pools that wildlife will appreciate, and even an area for bog plants. Now for the planting!
We saw JDL at this year's Harrogate Flower Show and were blown away by the exhibits and designs being shown. We had actually gone to the show to see the work of another Landscape Gardener who had quoted for the work we required. We came away determined to ask JDL to visit us and tell us what they could do. Jonathan's enthusiasm, design thoughts and openness was refreshing and very compelling. The work was for a water feature that created both sound and visual impact, plus patio area and lighting. The costs were almost identical to our other quotes, the resulting design and shape of feature was completely different.We now have a magnificent, integrated waterfall feature which looks like it has always been part of the garden, not an addition. All work was carried out in a most professional and collaborative manner and the whole team of JDL were a joy to work with. These people are true experts in this area.
Our pond and waterfall are superb. We had a nice watercourse and pond in our last house but JDLP are a race apart. They have in-depth and professional knowledge way beyond your average landscaper, understanding the underlying biology of a water garden. Their attention to detail is outstanding. We would recommend them enthusiastically to anyone! And the team are great!
We had JD come and build a water feature in our back garden. Prior to commissioning them, Jonathan took us to see two pond/waterfalls they had already done (one of which was in his own garden). Both were beautiful and exceptionally well done. They have now made us the most stunning waterfall/pond, a real work of art! It is even better than we had imagined! The team were a delight to work with....highly talented, creative and professional. They worked tirelessly, including in some hugely inclement weather. As our friends have come by to see our new pond, we hear nothing but, WOWS!!! We absolutely LOVE it and have, already, spent quite a bit of time sitting out enjoying it while having coffee etc. We cannot recommend them highly enough! Thank you Jonathan and the team!
Jonathan is my son, and all his life he has been interested in ponds and water features, since he was 2 years old, we used to go upto the sheepwash in Osmotherley, so he could play in the water, he is at his happiest building ponds and water features for his customers, some people are born to do certain jobs and have a natural talent to carry it out, and Jonathan is one of them, he is an artist in your garden, he is constantly keeping up with all the current trends from the contemporary to the classics, if you want the best employ the best.
